The Garnier Skin Renew Miracle Skin Perfector B.B. Cream is one of the new U.S. versions of the ever so popular Eastern B.B. Creams. Its supposed to provide an even looking complexion and help care for your skin while being worn so when you do take it off, you're left with a moisturized face.

Texture:

The Garnier Skin Renew Miracle Skin Perfector B.B. Cream isn't like your typical liquid foundation, it has a very thick consistency almost like a heavy moisturizer. If you put a little on the back of your hand, it won't move at all. When applied to your face, the Garnier B.B. Cream is a little bit tacky so I find that I really need to set with a powder to help take care of that "sticky" feeling. But once you do set with powder, you really can't feel this B.B. Cream on your face, its very light and just like you're only wearing moisturizer.

Coverage:

This B.B. Cream has light coverage, but you can easily layer it up to be medium coverage. I have a lot of hyperpigmentation on my face from acne, and although this doesn't cover everything, it does a fantastic job of getting rid of any redness and light discolorations. I thought using my fingers to apply the Garnier B.B. Cream was the best way to build up the coverage, but I actually found that using a flat top kabuki brush does a nice job of layering as well. If you have any blemishes, you'll still need to use a separate concealer after the B.B. Cream. Initially upon using this, I thought the B.B. Cream was going to be a little bit too dark for my skin color, but again because its on the sheerer side it can work for a variety of people.

Finish:

When you first apply the Garnier Skin Renew Miracle Skin Perfector B.B. Cream it has a very dewy finish that looks almost like you've just applied moisturizer. I always set with an oil controlling powder, but no matter what you do you're always going to have a glow-y look to your skin (which is so not a bad thing). Throughout the day the dew-y look intensifies and I find myself needing to blot once or twice to keep it looking like a glow and not a grease ball!

Scent:

This is one of the serious draw backs of the Garnier B.B. Cream, it has SUCH a strong smell to it! I can't put my finger on what exactly the fragrance is, but there's no way you could wear this if you're sensitive to smelly products. The scent lingers on your face for a good 3 hours and then it starts to fade, but I can still faintly smell this on my face the entire time I wear it.

Staying Power:

I always set my makeup with some sort of powder that's designed to help control oil throughout the day, and even with that the Garnier B.B. Cream wears off my face in about 5 hours. Now that's not terrible staying power, but it starts to wear off at the 5 hour mark in a patchy way. I'll check my makeup in the mirror and you can tell my noise is completely bare, and my cheeks look a little funny.I didn't experience any issues with the Garnier B.B. Cream oxidizing throughout the day.

Packaging:

Though the beige-y tube isn't the prettiest thing to look at, it gets the job done! The squeeze-y tube design is great for getting the thick B.B. Cream out easily. My only complaint is that the sticker on the front of the tube with the Garnier logo on it starts to peel off after a few uses. It doesn't effect the way the product works or anything, but it annoys the livin' daylights out of me to see the little edge of the sticker coming off!

Long Term Benefits:

Garnier has a lot of big claims for their Skin Renew Miracle Skin Perfector B.B. Cream, but I really didn't experience any of it. This B.B. Cream is supposed to care for your skin as you wear it, making it smoother and more hydrated. I do skip putting on a moisturizer before applying this as my foundation, and it does a pretty good job of filling in that void as a moisturizer while I'm wearing it. But when my makeup comes off at night my skin almost feels tighter than usual. I have very oily skin, so for this to actually dry out my face a little bit is really saying something! Its fine when its being worn, but the Garnier B.B. Cream doesn't exactly leave your skin in good condition once you've taken it out, which may be a big issue for you dry skinned girls. Now I'm not saying this B.B. Cream helped with my acne, but it sure didn't cause any new breakouts to occur (I don't have sensitive skin so that may not be a big deal to others).

Final Verdict:

After all the smack talking I've heard about the Garnier Skin Renew Miracle Skin Perfector B.B. Cream I really thought I wasn't going to like it, but that just goes to show how products work differently for everyone! I really enjoy using this B.B. Cream as a foundation on those days where I want to look natural with a little bit of a dew-y glow as the day goes on. But some things you need to keep in mind when deciding whether or not to purchase the Garnier Skin Renew Miracle Skin Perfector B.B. Cream are: it only comes in two shades (light/medium and medium/dark) so its obviously not going to suite everyone's skin color and undertone even though its sheer, it seem to leave your skin dried than when you first applied it, and it does require a lot of upkeep through out the day to keep looking even/from being too shiny. The price of the Garnier Skin Renew Miracle Skin Perfector B.B. Cream is also a bit of an issue, as its around a whopping $12.99 at drugstores and doesn't normally go on sale. For the amount of product it requires me to get the coverage I want from this B.B. Cream, I can see myself blowing through it quickly. But even so, I think I would repurchase the Garnier Skin Renew Miracle Skin Perfector B.B. Cream as it really works for me when I want a natural look!

  1. I am not a fan of this at all. I was hoping for an super quick and easy fix for all my old acne scars but it does no such thing. You're right it's pretty expensive for how much product you use each time. I know I won't be re-buying.

    1. Have you tried really layering it on?! I know I have terrible acne scars, but this does a decent job at covering them if I do 2-3 layers. But yeah it does get expensive, I don't think I would necessarily repurchase this BB cream, but I do love BB creams in general for those lazy foundation days!

    2. Oops haha, I didn't realize you commented back. I've only used two layers. I'm still not impressed. But I've just gotten to this point where, it's just habit to put on foundation when I go out. I've got such a system down that it takes me 5mins top to do all my face makeup.

    3. I'm the same way! Some people think its this huge fuss to do their foundation, concealer and all that jazz but I've got my system down and it only takes a couple minutes to have my face completely done (eye makeup is another story...)! But you're right, it is much easier to use a fuller coverage foundation to make things way quicker instead of this bb cream since its on the sheer side.
